KindDesigns was founded to protect Miami’s coastlines by combating the destructive flooding and degrading marine habitats happening in our home state. We put together a team of engineers, designers, researchers, and materials experts to develop sustainable, cost-effective solutions that could be scaled to all coastal cities. Our flagship product, Living Seawalls™, tackles the challenges posed by rising sea levels while healing damaged ecosystems. Today, our product suite has expanded to include Kind Tiles™, Artificial Reefs, and much more. Regardless of the product, everything we do is driven by our unwavering commitment to create resilient communities.

Living Seawalls

Our Living Seawalls™ combine the structural integrity of traditional seawalls with the ecological benefits of artificial reefs. With advanced 3D-printing technology, KindDesigns produces beautiful, custom panels 20x faster than traditional seawall construction methods.

How it Works

·         01. Design

Our team will schedule a site visit for new projects, or we can review permitted plans for active seawall projects. For all projects we then design custom slabs to meet your exact project needs.

·         02. Production

Our seawall production is the fastest in the world. We 3D print a concrete seawall panel in 60 minutes! For large orders our mobile robots can print on-site.

·         03. Installation

Finally, we will collaborate with a local marine contractor to install your Living Seawall. Panels can be installed with tie-back or piles, just like precast concrete seawalls.

Kind Tiles™

Kind Tiles™ can be added to any existing seawall (concrete, steel, or vinyl) to function in the same way our Living Seawalls™ do — enhancing species colonization, dissipating wave energy, and improving quality of water through sea life attachment. The aesthetics of your home doesn’t need to stop at your backyard. Custom Kind Tiles™ create cohesion between the design of your home and your seawall.

How it Works

·         01. Design

Choose a Kind Tile™ from our portfolio, or create something custom! We will work with you to decide the number of tiles needed based on site conditions and desired aesthetic.

·         02. Production

Using our EPD certified cementitious mix, we craft beautiful, eco-friendly Kind Tiles™. We will match our production timeline to align with your project schedule.

·         03. Installation

We collaborate with local marine contractors to install your tiles. Installation method is dependent on the type of seawall Kind Tiles™ are affixed to.

Living Shorelines

Living Shorelines incorporate green and grey infrastructure to protect shorelines and communities, while supporting enhanced coastal biodiversity. KindDesigns’ living shoreline solutions complement natural systems, multiplying the benefits of natural and structural coastal protection.

Products

·         Mangrove Planters

KindDesigns Mangrove Planters offer an innovative solution for coastal property owners, allowing you to enjoy the ecological benefits of mangroves without sacrificing your waterfront views.

These versatile planters can be mounted on seawalls, placed in water, or positioned upland, featuring rugose surfaces and eco-friendly materials that support both mangroves and marine life.

·         Artificial Reefs

Our 3D-printed artificial reefs represent the cutting edge of marine habitat restoration. With an unprecedented half-inch layer size, our printers create intricate, tailored structures that push the boundaries of reef design.

Combining artificial reef science with artistic vision, our in-house team crafts ecologically beneficial habitats that double as underwater sculpture parks. These unique reefs not only support local marine life but also serve as captivating attractions for divers and ocean enthusiasts.
